Kindergarten
Research shows that success in school is determined by attitudes toward learning, study habits and skills developed at an early age. In our kindergarten program, children learn to solve problems, become independent, responsible and cooperative learners and develop the skills and confidence needed to excel in first grade.
The Creative Curriculum, a nationally recognized program, uses a framework that captures children’s natural curiosity and interests while promoting social, emotional, language, reading, math, social studies, science, art and imaginative play skills. Using a thematic approach based upon the interests of the children and a technique called webbing, units are developed.
Teachers use learning centers and whole class activities that teach children to function in structured and unstructured groups and still preserves a sense of community. Learning is individual and personal so we can meet the unique needs and learning styles of our children.
A child’s progress is discussed with parents on an informal, daily basis and a portfolio of their work is readily available. Formal conferences are held semi-annually to share each child’s progress in a more structured way and to develop future goals.
Our staff communicates with first grade teachers and principals in the public and private schools which helps make the transition to first grade a smooth one.
